Tailored Image has had the recent privilege of sponsoring an Educational Scholarship scheme in partnership with its Sri Lankan manufacturing partners, New Universe. The scheme supports over 700 children – all children of the employees in 6 factories run by New Universe. Tailored Image’s financial support for this scholarship includes provision of school bags, copy books and a monetary donation to each child by way of a voucher which can be redeemed at each of their respective schools.
Despite strong government financial support for education in Sri Lanka, with textbooks, uniforms and meals all provided free of charge, many families still struggle to support their children through education because of school fees, costs of stationary, schoolbags etc. This scholarship is a lifeline to these families and was gratefully received by both New Universe and the individual recipients.
These items were presented to the recipients during New Universe’s New Year celebration – a huge annual event held by the company to celebrate its culture through music, dancing, sport and games. Tailored Image was delighted to provide financial support for this wholesome event.
Speaking of the scheme, Tailored Image MD Bernard Birt commented:

We are delighted at the opportunity to be able to support these children and provide a better opportunity for them to get the best education possible. This scheme helps to open up a wide variety of career choices for these young people and gives them better prospects for the future. We are a people orientated business at home and abroad and the nature of this scholarship was an opportunity we didn’t want to pass.’
